Teen/Adult Art Classes Still in Session (Age 14 and Up) – Youngstown Location

Held at Butler North (church building next to the Butler Museum in Youngstown)


  • COLORED PENCIL DRAWING:   This class will provide students with a variety of techniques needed in using colored pencils to draw and color subjects of their choice. Explore light sources, shading, and blending to produce finished artworks.  Students should bring a color reference of their favorite subject to draw. This class may be taken multiple times and will build upon previous experiences.  (Please call 330-743-1107, ext. 1211  for supply list.)

  • WATERCOLOR PAINTING:  Dive into the wonderful world of watercolor painting.  Students will learn water saturation, color mixing, lighting, and values.  Instructor will demonstrate working with different types of paper and brushes.  Layout of artwork and composition will also be discussed.   Join us for a great class for all to enjoy at any level.  Please bring several different full color reference pictures (8”x 10”) of your favorite subject matter.  (Please call 330-743-1107, ext. 1211 for supply list.)

  • SCRATCHBOARD DRAWING:  Enjoy the world of scratch art.  Students will learn to produce exciting works in black and white values on pre-inked scratchboard.  Basic drawing techniques will be discussed along with instruction to transfer pencil sketch to scratchboard.  Light source, shading, and depth will be taught using scratch pens and engraving tools.  Students should bring several black and white 8” x 10” photos or reference pieces of their favorite subject matter to create stunning scratch art.   (Please call 330-743-1107 ext. 1211 for supply list.)
