The Butler Institute of American Art’s 83rd National Midyear Show

Artist Reception and Awards Presentation: June 2nd  1-3pm

This annual juried show exhibits the artworks of adult artists from throughout the fifty United States and its territories. The exhibition includes accepted works in all two dimensional media, including oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, drawings, prints, photographs and digital. For the 2019 exhibition, there were 652 works of art submitted by 260 artists and 78 works of art by 64 artists. The artists spanned 14 states across the United States.

 

Jurors for this year’s exhibition were painter, Sherry Giryotas and sculptor, Phillip Shore, both based out of Dallas, TX. Prize winners were selected by the awards committee.

 

Congratulations to this years winners:

Susan Weintraub (Brooklyn, NY) won Best in Show with her watercolor and gouache painting McDonald Avenue. Harold Zabady (Camp Hill, PA) was selected the First Place prize winner for his oil painting Corner Bar. Second Place was awarded to Marc Winnat (Nashua, NH) for his work in acrylic titled Rain Delays. David Dorsey’s (Pittsford, NY) Taffy #2 was selected as the Third Place prize winner. The Allied Artists of America Award was awarded to Ray Wollschleger’s (Delaware, OH) pastel work on paper titled, Sir Dewey. Robert Nicoll (North Canton, OH) won the show’s Phil Desind Award for his oil painting, Lemon and Delft.

 

Honorable Mention was awarded to:
