Eden, transplanted

Performance Exhibition: Sunday, October 14, 2018 2 PM

Meet-the-Artist Reception: Sunday, October 14, 2018 1-3 PM

On view in the beautiful former church setting of the Butler Institute of American Art’s Butler North extension, this multimedia exhibit by Slovene artist, Eva Petrič represents the process of incessant construction and deconstruction caused by pressing current themes of borders and values in personal relationships, social relationships and our relationship with our physical environment- Planet Earth.

white wHole is composed of Collective Solar Cell – a 16.4 x 16.4 ft. lace assemblage constructed of hundreds of old handmade laces found at flea markets, or donated by people from around the world – combined with audio and projection of Petrič’s video piece, Emptiness Exits. At 2:00 PM during the opening reception on October 14, 2018, the artist will present her 23-minute-long performance art piece, Eden, transplanted in conjunction with the multimedia installation white wHole at Butler North. The performance piece serves to highlight the 50-year-anniversary of the first successful human heart transplant, coronary bypass heart surgery, and the millions of lives saved by the procedures since then.

This exhibition will be on view for one day only, October 14, 2018.
